The Black Stars (2010 Disney Pictures)

If Disney were to make a fairytale movie from this point for the 2010 World Cup, the film would start with Ghana barely beating Uruguay in the Quarter Finals and then shocking the world by beating Brazil 2-1 in the Semi-Finals moving them to the finals which has not happened in the history of the game. Meanwhile, the epic battles of Argentina and Germany, Spain and Portugal, Paraguay vs the winner of Spain and Portugal (which will probably be Spain) - all leading to a huge battle in the Semi-Finals which will be Argentina vs Spain. The final becomes Ghana (massive worldwide underdogs) and at the same time unites the entire continent of Africa vs the powerhouse of Argentina led by Lionel Messi. Of course in the most dramatic fashion the final ends 2-2 regulation 0-0 in extra time. It all comes down to penalty kicks. Ghana strikes the first 4 - Argentina strikes the first 3, on their forth it hits the top cross bar and misses. If Ghana makes their 5th pk the game is over and history is made……

O-yea, the title of the film is The Black Stars. Who’s with me?????

In the real world though, I call a Brazil vs Argentina final and like I called it before the cup began, Argentina wins it all. I am dreamer and a realist - it’s a good quality right?

Podcasts I Currently Listen To:

  1. All Songs Considered - National Public Radio Hosted by Bob Boilen brings a diverse mix of new music by emerging and breakout bands lucky enough to get through to the powerhouse of publicity of NPR
  2. Brainwashed Radio A Non-Profit company who does not support any major music label, in fact they are quite passionate about the statement they are making. Perhaps I am contradictory because I listen to NPR which All Songs Considered features artists from some Major Labels. This Podcast is amazing and I am always blown away by the music. Give it a try if you have an open mind you want to expand your tastes.
  3. The Moth This is a podcast of stories told be many - From the Moth website, “The stories range in length from approximately 5 to 17 minutes. Sometimes funny, occasionally sad, often poignant, we hope you will find the stories memorable and representative of many aspects of human experience”
  4. WNYC’s Radio Lab - Radio Lab is a podcast from WNYC in New York and, “believes your ears are a portal to another world. Where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and human experience. Big questions are investigated, tinkered with, and encouraged to grow. Bring your curiosity, and we’ll feed it with possibility.” - always interesting and worth a listen every time.
  5. Speaking of Faith with Krista Tippitt is a podcast where the main topic is always something to do with spirit. I like it because she investigates many religious beliefs as well as very diverse points of view, ” SOF is a new kind of conversation — and an evolving media space — about religion, spirituality, and large questions of meaning in every aspect of life.”
  6. American RadioWorks from American Public Media is podcast that investigates various media themes from around the world, “ARW is public radio’s largest documentary production unit; it creates documentaries, series projects, and investigative reports for the public radio system and the Internet.”
  7. Live Concerts from All Songs Considered - Live Concerts worth listening to. Concerts are always well recorded.
  8. Secretly Canadian - Podcast from Berkley record label Secretly Canadian - home to liked (by me) bands Magnolia Electric Company, Yeasayer, and Early Day Miners.
  9. This American Life - Who has not heard of this podcast? - If you have not just listen.

Why don’t I see goodness and beauty everywhere - because you can not see outside of you what you fail to see inside.
